Banana Nut Pancakes are fluffy, soft, and taste just like banana bread in pancake form!

Pancakes have always been a favorite of mine. If you love pancakes definitely check out my Big Fluffy Homemade Pancakes recipe! I love using delicious flavors like vanilla in my pancakes. This recipe calls for extra special flavors like banana and cinnamon which go so perfectly together.

I first thought of this recipe when I realized my husband and daughter both love anything banana flavored and I love to be able to switch up my pancake flavors from time to time. With cooked bananas automatically comes cinnamon so I knew a dash of that was needed and of course I had to top it off with chopped pecans! Mmmmm Mmm!!

Pancakes are a breakfast staple but every now and then we want something a little different from the classic buttery pancake. I believe that these banana nut pancakes will be a hit at your breakfast table every time and you may even start getting requests for them! They are just that delicious!

Ingredients in Banana Nut Pancakes

All-purpose Flour– I use all-purpose flour but you can use wheat flour as a healthier alternative as well.

Granulated Sugar– This is going to add sweetness to the pancakes.

Baking Powder– This helps make the pancakes thick and fluffy.

Salt– This add dimension to the flavor of the pancakes and cuts some of the sweetness. You only need a pinch.

Milk– I like to use skim milk but you can use whatever milk you would like.

Butter– This adds more flavor to the pancakes.

Egg– This adds fluffiness to the pancakes and binds the batter all together.

Vanilla Extract– This is a must for my pancakes and adds such a delicious flavor to them.

Apple Pie Spice– This is a mixture of cinnamon and nutmeg and is used to bring out that delicious banana flavor even more.

Banana– This is the star of the Banana Nut Pancake show.

Pecans– You can omit these if you would like in case of allergies or if you want to substitute walnuts instead then you can do that as well.

Tips for Banana Nut Pancakes

  • When making the pancakes use medium low heat because they can cook fast on the outside and be undone inside so be mindful of that.
  • Butter your pan in between each pancake so that they flip easily, and you can get those delicious edges.
  • Feel free to omit the nuts and just make banana pancakes. They are still delicious!
  • However many pancakes you make all depend on the size that you make them.
  • Top with sliced bananas, chopped pecans, and your favorite syrup or whipped topping! Yum Yum!

How to Make Banana Nut Pancakes

  1. In a large mixing bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, apple pie spice, and salt until combined.
  2. Add in milk, egg, melted butter, vanilla extract, and mix well with a whisk until combined.
  3. Add in mashed banana and mix well until smooth.
  4. Stir in chopped pecans.
  5. Heat a pan on the stovetop on medium low heat.
  6. Butter your pan and pour your batter in at the desired size that you want your pancakes to be. I like mine large, so I use ¼ cup of batter.
  7. Once the pancake’s edges start to puff up and it looks thicker, flip your pancake over.
  8. Once your pancake is done, place it on a plate and repeat steps 6-8 until the batter is gone.
  9. Serve warm with your favorite toppings.
  10. Enjoy!
