But in the meantime, definitely give these brown butter cinnamon Rice Krispie treats a try. They will blow your mind!

These Treats are perfect for parties, movie nights, sleepovers, to pack in your kids’ lunches, you name it! These treats are gooey on the inside but not super sticky on the outside so that you can easily place them in individual plastic bags or plastic wrap and pass them out. Ingredients in Brown Butter Cinnamon Rice Krispies Treats

Rice Cereal Crisps- I know most people use the Rice Krispies brand but Great Value also has a brand of rice cereal crisps that are just as good in this recipe and cost effective.

Unsalted Butter- I use unsalted butter so that I can control the amount of salt in my recipe. You will also be browning the butter which brings out a delicious nutty flavor that makes the treats that much better!

Mini Marshmallows- I use mini marshmallows because they melt nice and easily and I also add some to my treats right before I press them into the pan so that there are delicious marshmallows in each bite.

Vanilla Extract- Now ya’ll know I add a little vanilla extract to pretty much all of the sweet treats that I make.

Cinnamon- A little cinnamon goes a long way. I use about a teaspoon and these come out perfect with that amount!

Salt- A pinch of salt balances all of the flavors of the Rice Krispies treats

Tips to Make Brown Butter Cinnamon Rice Krispies Treats Taste Better

  • Make sure to brown your butter and not to burn it. There is a thin line between brown butter and burned butter. Make sure to brown it on low heat, stirring it often and allowing it to get frothy and dark brown, not black.
  • Make sure to use enough cinnamon so that the flavor shines through but is not overpowering.
  • Make sure to mix the cereal into the marshmallow mixture thoroughly then add in the extra marshmallows so that they do not melt entirely and remain whole.
  • Butter your pan and allow the mixture to completely cool so that it will not be sticking to anything after.
  • To preserve the treats, wrap them individually in plastic wrap or a plastic bag and then store them in a larger bag or storage container.
  • Extra tip to clean out your pot afterwards, just fill it with hot water and let it sit for 30 mins to an hour before scrubbing it clean.

How to Make Brown Butter Cinnamon Rice Krispies Treats

  1. Have all of your ingredients measured out and ready to go because you want to move at a pace where things do not start to cool down too soon.
  1. Melt your butter in a large pot, on low heat allow butter to bubble up and brown while stirring it frequently. It will get frothy with dark brown bits at the bottom.
  1. Add in 10 oz of mini marshmallows into the brown butter mixture while still on low heat.
  1. Add vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt into the pot and keep mixing it all until the mixture is completely smooth.
  1. Cut the heat completely off and add in the Rice Krispies. Mix them in until almost fully combined and then mix in the remaining marshmallows.
  1. In a greased baking dish of your choice, 9×9 or 9×13, spread it all out evenly but do not press it down super hard, you want most of the cereal to not be smashed and dense.
  1. After it completely cools, flip it out onto parchment paper and cut it how you want and enjoy!
