Best Chewy Homemade Brownies

Brownies are chewy, fudgy, full of chocolate flavor, and many people’s favorite dessert!

I love brownies so much! They are so yummy. My favorite way to make brownies are fudgy, chewy, and with that perfect thin crackly top! I have developed a recipe that achieves all three! I remember the first time I made these my husband ate half the pan and he does not even like chocolate, so that says a lot!

Brownies are so versatile. You can take a simple recipe like this one and turn it into so many different types of brownies. The possibilities are endless, and I will be sharing different variations of brownies with you all throughout this blog so stay tuned! I think what makes this brownie recipe taste so good is that I use real melted chocolate. This adds a rich flavor that cocoa powder alone cannot achieve.

This brownie recipe is super easy to make and you really only need one bowl besides the bowl used to melt the butter and chocolate chips. That is another thing that I love about this recipe! Easy clean up is always exciting for me and not to mention your entire house will smell like fresh brownies! Perfect for when you are having guests over and they get to enjoy a delicious treat!

Ingredients in the Best Chewy Homemade Brownies

Salted Butter– Butter gives the brownies great flavor and salted butter gives them dimension and a subtle saltiness to the brownies.

Oil– You can use vegetable oil, canola oil, or even olive oil. This is going to make a chewier brownie. If you do not have any oil, just use more butter.

Granulated Sugar– This is going to add sweetness to the brownies. Use half granulated sugar and half dark brown sugar for even chewier brownies.

Eggs– I use large eggs for my recipe. You can add an extra egg for a more cake-like brownie.

Vanilla Extract– This is going to add more flavor to your brownies. As ya’ll already know, I love vanilla extract.

Milk Chocolate Chips– This is going to give your brownies real chocolate flavor and add a richness to them that cocoa powder alone cannot achieve. I use Nestle’s brand but you can use whatever brand you would like.

Flour– I use all-purpose flour in my recipe and it works perfectly!

Unsweetened Cocoa Powder– This is going to give your brownies a nice cocoa flavor. I use the Hershey’s brand.

Salt– This is going to add more dimension and you only need a pinch.

Tips for the Best Chewy Homemade Brownies

  • Use butter and oil. Butter is for flavor and chewiness and oil is for even more chewiness. You can still achieve great brownies with butter only if that is all you have on hand.
  • Use melted milk chocolate chips. This will give your brownies that rich chocolate flavor that a true brownie has. You can also add more chocolate chips into the batter once it is done before baking for even more chocolate flavor.
  • Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave the chocolate chips in 15 second intervals making sure to stir each time you stop. This way you will not burn the chocolate and it will be melted perfectly.
  • Do not overbake your brownies. This will dry them out and they will be crumbly and not as fudgy.
  • Make sure to use butter and parchment paper in your pan. This will allow the quickest and easiest release from the pan for the perfect brownies.
  • Take your time and mix everything well. Mixing everything together well is important. It adds air, creaminess, and smoothness to the batter which creates the perfect brownies.
