Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Burger Patties
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped
- 3/4 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
For Cooking
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
To Serve
- Burger buns
- Desired toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, condiments, etc.)
Instructions
- Prepare the Burger Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Mix gently using your hands or a spoon until all ingredients are just combined to avoid overworking the meat which can make burgers tough.
- Shape Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a roughly 1/2-inch thick patty, making sure they are uniform in size for even cooking.
- Heat the Pan: Place a large skillet or grill pan over medium heat and add the olive oil. Allow the oil to heat until shimmering but not smoking.
- Cook the Burgers: Add the patties to the hot pan and cook for 5 to 6 minutes on one side without moving them, allowing a crust to form. Flip carefully and cook the other side another 5 to 6 minutes until fully cooked and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Rest the Burgers: Remove the cooked patties from the pan and let them rest for 2–3 minutes. This helps the juices redistribute, keeping the burgers moist and flavorful.
- Assemble and Serve: Place each burger patty on a bun and add your favorite toppings and condiments. Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- Avoid overmixing the chicken mixture to keep the burgers tender and juicy.
- These patties can also be cooked outdoors on a grill for a smoky flavor or baked in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 18 to 20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Use fresh breadcrumbs for best texture or panko breadcrumbs for a lighter patty.
- Feel free to customize toppings such as avocado, spicy mayo, or caramelized onions for extra flavor.
