Description

This refreshing Watermelon Slushie recipe is a perfect cool treat for hot days, blending frozen watermelon, fresh lime, and a touch of maple syrup into a deliciously icy beverage. Enhanced with fresh mint or basil for an optional herbal twist, it’s a hydrating and naturally sweetened slushie that’s quick and easy to make.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 10 cups Seedless Watermelon Cubes, frozen for at least 24 hours
  • 24 tbsp Maple Syrup
  • Juice of 1 large Lime
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Mint or Basil leaves, loosely packed (Optional, but recommended)
  • 1 1/2 cup Filtered Water

Instructions

  1. Defrost Frozen Watermelon: Allow the frozen watermelon cubes to sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes to soften slightly for easier blending.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a high-speed blender, add the partially defrosted watermelon, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, lime juice, fresh mint or basil leaves, and filtered water.
  3. Initial Blending: Pulse the blender a few times to break up the watermelon chunks before blending continuously.
  4. Blend to Slushie Consistency: Blend until the mixture reaches a thick, slushie-like texture, emulsifying the fruit and liquids smoothly.
  5. Adjust Sweetness and Texture: Taste the slushie and add extra maple syrup if a sweeter flavor is desired. If the slushie is too thick, add more water slowly while blending to reach your preferred consistency.
  6. Serve: Pour the watermelon slushie evenly into 4 glasses, garnish if desired, and serve immediately for a refreshing treat.

Notes

  • For best results, freeze the watermelon cubes for at least 24 hours ahead of time.
  • The optional fresh mint or basil adds a nice herbal note but can be omitted if preferred.
  • Adjust the amount of maple syrup based on the sweetness of your watermelon and personal taste.
  • Use filtered water to keep the flavor clean and fresh.
  • This recipe can be doubled easily for larger gatherings.
  • Serve immediately as the slushie will melt quickly if left standing.
