Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Blueberry Mixture:

  • 1 ½ cups fresh or frozen blueberries (do not thaw if frozen)
  • 1 tablespoon flour (for tossing blueberries)

Optional Topping:

  • 2 tablespoons coarse sugar or turbinado sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or lightly grease.
  2. Prepare dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, cream softened butter with granulated and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in sour cream and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine: Gently mix in dry ingredients until just combined. Toss blueberries with 1 tablespoon flour and fold into the batter.
  5. Bake: Spoon batter into muffin cups, sprinkle with coarse sugar if using, and bake for 20–24 minutes until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool: Let muffins cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a teaspoon of lemon zest to the batter.
  • These muffins stay moist for days and freeze beautifully. To reheat, warm in the microwave for 15–20 seconds.
