- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (15-ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (15-ounce) can corn, drained
- 1 (15-ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 (4-ounce) can diced green chiles
- 1 packet taco seasoning (or 2 tablespoons homemade taco seasoning)
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 2 cups beef broth
- Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
- Brown the Ground Beef: In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
- Sauté Onion and Garlic: Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pot and sauté for 2–3 minutes until they soften and become fragrant.
- Add Remaining Ingredients: Stir in the drained black beans, corn, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, diced green chiles, taco seasoning, ground cumin, and beef broth.
- Simmer the Soup: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer uncovered for 20–25 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Season and Serve: Taste the soup and adjust salt and pepper if needed. Ladle the soup into bowls and top with optional shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro, or crushed tortilla chips as desired.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add a chopped jalapeño or use hot taco seasoning.
