Cake:

- 1½ cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped

- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
- Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture in three additions, alternating with the milk.
- Stir in vanilla: Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Coat strawberries: Toss the chopped strawberries with 2 tablespoons of flour to prevent sinking, then gently fold them into the batter.
- Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top. Bake for 40–45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool and serve: Let cool in the pan before slicing. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
