Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
- 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter
- 1 package (10 oz) Mini Marshmallows
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 tsp Green Food Coloring
Optional Decorations
- 1/4 cup Green Sprinkles
- 1/4 cup White Chocolate Chips
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Grease a 9×13 inch pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent the treats from sticking, making removal and cutting easier.
- Melt the Butter and Marshmallows: In a large saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Once melted, add the mini marshmallows and stir continuously until they are fully melted and smooth, forming a gooey base.
- Add Food Coloring and Vanilla: Stir in the green food coloring and vanilla extract thoroughly into the melted marshmallow mixture to evenly distribute the color and flavor.
- Combine with Rice Krispies: Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately add the Rice Krispies cereal. Fold gently but quickly to coat all the cereal with the marshmallow mixture, ensuring a consistent texture.
- Press Into the Pan: Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan. Using a spatula or wax paper, press the mixture firmly and evenly into the pan to form a compact layer for easy cutting.
- Decorate (Optional): If desired, melt white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. Drizzle over the top of the treats and sprinkle with green sprinkles for extra festive flair.
- Let Set and Serve: Allow the treats to cool and set at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Once firm, cut into squares or rectangles and serve immediately or store for later enjoyment.
Notes
- You can substitute Rice Krispies with another crisp rice cereal if preferred.
- For a more intense green color, increase the food coloring slightly as desired.
- Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days for best freshness.
- Use wax paper or lightly grease your spatula to make pressing the mixture into the pan easier.
- To make the treats more festive, consider adding edible gold glitter or shamrock-shaped sprinkles.
