Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 1 lb strawberries (about 14-18 berries)
- 10 oz white dipping chocolate or candy melts (about 1 ¼ cups)
- Mini chocolate chips (for the eyes and mouth)
Instructions
- Prepare the Strawberries: Rinse the strawberries thoroughly and dry them completely with paper towels. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to place the dipped strawberries on later.
- Melt the Chocolate: Place the white dipping chocolate or candy melts into a microwave-safe bowl.
- Microwave and Stir: Heat the chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth, ensuring no lumps remain.
- Dip the Strawberries: Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip approximately three-quarters of the berry into the melted chocolate, letting any excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
- Form the Ghost Tail: Place each dipped strawberry on the prepared parchment paper, positioning it so that the excess chocolate naturally creates a “tail” effect resembling a ghost.
- Add the Face: Before the chocolate sets, press mini chocolate chips into each strawberry to form the eyes and mouth. Place the eyes with the pointy side facing up and the mouth with the pointy side facing down for the best effect.
- Let Them Set: Allow the dipped strawberries to set at room temperature for 10-15 minutes until the chocolate firms up completely. Serve immediately or refrigerate for 1-2 days.
Notes
- Make sure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to ensure chocolate sticks properly.
- If chocolate starts to harden while dipping, gently reheat before continuing.
- Store strawberries in a cool place or refrigerator but serve them shortly after removing from fridge for best texture.
- Mini chocolate chips can be replaced with edible food markers or melted dark chocolate for decorating faces.
- Use parchment paper to avoid sticking and to make cleanup easier.
