Description

These Spicy Chicken Rolls are a deliciously cheesy and flavorful appetizer featuring shredded chicken mixed with hot sauce and spices, wrapped in buttery crescent roll dough, and baked to golden perfection. Perfect for game day or casual gatherings, they offer a spicy kick with melty mozzarella and cream cheese in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Filling

  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot)
  • ¼ cup cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Dough and Toppings

  • 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough (8-count)
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
  2. Mix Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked shredded chicken, mozzarella cheese, hot sauce, softened cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well until all ingredients are thoroughly blended into a spicy, cheesy mixture.
  3. Prepare Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into 8 individual triangles. These will serve as the wraps for your chicken filling.
  4. Assemble Rolls: Place about 2 tablespoons of the spicy chicken mixture at the wide end of each crescent triangle. Starting from the wide end, carefully roll each triangle towards the pointed end, encasing the filling securely inside.
  5. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the assembled rolls seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet, spaced slightly apart to allow even baking.
  6. Brush and Season: Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter to promote browning and a rich flavor. Sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes on top if you want an extra kick.
  7. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until the rolls turn golden brown and the filling is heated through.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven, sprinkle with chopped parsley for freshness, and serve warm. These rolls pair wonderfully with ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping.

Notes

  • Serve with ranch or blue cheese dressing for a creamy dipping option.
  • You can substitute rotisserie chicken to save time on preparation.
  • Adjust the amount of hot sauce to control the spice level according to your preference.
