- 2/3 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (cold and cubed)

- 1 cup molasses
- 3/4 cup hot water
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 large egg (beaten)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Prepare the Crumb Topping: Combine flour and brown sugar. Cut in butter until mixture forms coarse crumbs. Reserve 1/2 cup for topping.
- Make the Filling: Whisk molasses and water. Add baking soda, salt, and beaten egg.
- Assemble the Pie: Pour filling into crust. Sprinkle reserved crumbs on top.
- Bake: Bake for 35–40 minutes until set and golden.
- Cool and Serve: Cool pie completely before slicing.
