Ingredients
Scale
Roasted Garlic
- 1 whole garlic bulb
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Dip Base
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Garnish (Optional)
- Fresh parsley or chives, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for roasting the garlic bulb.
- Prepare Garlic: Cut the top off the garlic bulb to expose the individual cloves. Drizzle the bulb with olive oil, then wrap it tightly in foil to keep moisture in during roasting.
- Roast Garlic: Place the foil-wrapped garlic bulb on a baking sheet and roast in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, until cloves are soft and golden brown.
- Extract Roasted Garlic: Remove the garlic from the oven and allow it to cool. Once cooled, squeeze the roasted garlic cloves out from their skins into a mixing bowl.
- Mix the Dip: Add softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, and lemon juice to the roasted garlic. Mix thoroughly until the dip is smooth and well combined.
- Season: Add salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Stir to incorporate the seasoning evenly throughout the dip.
- Chill: Refrigerate the dip for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the texture to firm up.
- Garnish and Serve: Before serving, optionally garnish with freshly chopped parsley or chives for a fresh, herby finish.
Notes
- Softened cream cheese blends better; allow it to sit at room temperature before mixing.
- Roasting garlic mellows its sharpness and brings a rich, caramelized flavor.
- Leftover dip can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Use the dip as a spread for crackers, bread, or as a vegetable dip.
- For a dairy-free version, substitute cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise with plant-based alternatives.
