Description

A creamy and flavorful roasted garlic dip that combines the sweetness of slow-roasted garlic with smooth cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Perfect as a party appetizer or a snack, this dip is easy to prepare and can be garnished with fresh herbs for an added touch.

Ingredients

Scale

Roasted Garlic

  • 1 whole garlic bulb
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Dip Base

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Garnish (Optional)

  • Fresh parsley or chives, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for roasting the garlic bulb.
  2. Prepare Garlic: Cut the top off the garlic bulb to expose the individual cloves. Drizzle the bulb with olive oil, then wrap it tightly in foil to keep moisture in during roasting.
  3. Roast Garlic: Place the foil-wrapped garlic bulb on a baking sheet and roast in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, until cloves are soft and golden brown.
  4. Extract Roasted Garlic: Remove the garlic from the oven and allow it to cool. Once cooled, squeeze the roasted garlic cloves out from their skins into a mixing bowl.
  5. Mix the Dip: Add softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, and lemon juice to the roasted garlic. Mix thoroughly until the dip is smooth and well combined.
  6. Season: Add salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Stir to incorporate the seasoning evenly throughout the dip.
  7. Chill: Refrigerate the dip for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the texture to firm up.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Before serving, optionally garnish with freshly chopped parsley or chives for a fresh, herby finish.

Notes

  • Softened cream cheese blends better; allow it to sit at room temperature before mixing.
  • Roasting garlic mellows its sharpness and brings a rich, caramelized flavor.
  • Leftover dip can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Use the dip as a spread for crackers, bread, or as a vegetable dip.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise with plant-based alternatives.
