Description

This Protein Ice Cream Bowl is a delicious and nutritious dessert that blends high-protein Greek yogurt and protein powder with creamy almond milk, sweetened lightly with maple syrup and vanilla. Perfect for a healthy treat, it’s blended, frozen, and optionally processed in an ice cream maker for a smooth texture. Served with fresh berries, nut butter, chocolate chips, nuts, and seeds, it’s a refreshing, protein-packed snack or dessert ideal for fitness enthusiasts and health-conscious individuals.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 scoops vanilla or chocolate protein powder (60 g)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Toppings

  • 1/4 cup fresh berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries)
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter or almond butter
  • 1 tablespoon dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, pecans)
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds or hemp seeds

Instructions

  1. Blend Ingredients: Combine the Greek yogurt, almond milk, protein powder, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt into a blender. Blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth and thoroughly combined, creating the base for the ice cream.
  2. Transfer and Freeze: Pour the blended mixture into a freezer-safe container, making sure the surface is level. Place it in the freezer and freeze for at least 8 hours or overnight until the mixture is solid.
  3. Process with Ice Cream Maker: Remove the frozen mixture from the freezer. If you have an ice cream maker, like the Ninja Creami, process it according to the manufacturer’s instructions using the Ice Cream mode to achieve a creamy texture.
  4. Adjust Texture: For extra creaminess, you can re-spin the ice cream. If you prefer a softer texture, add a small amount of almond milk and spin again.
  5. Serve with Toppings: Scoop the protein ice cream into bowls and garnish with fresh berries, nut butter, dark chocolate chips, nuts, and seeds as desired. Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Use unsweetened almond milk and Greek yogurt to keep added sugars low.
  • You can substitute the protein powder flavor to vanilla or chocolate based on your preference.
  • Adjust maple syrup amount to taste for sweetness.
  • If you don’t have an ice cream maker, simply enjoy it as a frozen soft-serve style by thawing slightly before serving.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 1 week.
