Bread:
- 4 slices of Italian or sourdough bread
Filling:
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
- ½ cup pizza sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 12 slices pepperoni (optional)
- ¼ teaspoon dried oregano
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- Grated Parmesan cheese for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Bread: Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Assemble: Place two slices butter-side down on a skillet. Spread 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce on the unbuttered side of each. Layer with mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, oregano, and garlic powder. Top with the remaining slices of bread, butter-side up.
- Cook: Cook over medium heat for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing down gently with a spatula until golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Serve: Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese before serving, if desired.
