Ingredients
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh pineapple, chopped
- 3–4 orange habanero peppers, stemmed and seeded for less heat
- ½ cup white onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Sauté Aromatics: In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic cloves and sauté for 2–3 minutes until they become softened and fragrant, forming the flavor base.
- Cook Pineapple and Habaneros: Stir in the chopped pineapple and habanero peppers, cooking for another 3–4 minutes until the mixture becomes fragrant and the peppers start to soften.
- Add Liquids and Simmer: Pour in apple cider vinegar, lime juice, and honey or maple syrup, then add salt. Reduce heat to medium-low and let the sauce simmer gently for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pineapple is tender and flavors meld together beautifully.
- Blend to Finish: Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly. Transfer the contents to a blender and puree until smooth and creamy. Adjust the consistency by adding a splash of water if needed, and taste to add more lime juice, salt, or sweetener if desired.
- Store and Serve: Pour the finished hot sauce into sterilized glass bottles or jars. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks. Enjoy it as a spicy, tropical condiment on your favorite dishes.
Notes
- For a milder version, reduce the number of habaneros or substitute with jalapeños.
