Main Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 large green pepper, thinly sliced
- 1/2 pound fresh shaved steak
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 – 12 pack sweet bread buns
- 6 slices provolone cheese
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme (not ground)
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to get it ready for baking the sliders to a perfect golden brown.
- Cook Vegetables: Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced onions and green peppers and cook until they are softened and nicely caramelized, enhancing their natural sweetness.
- Cook Steak: Add the shaved steak to the pan along with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the steak changes color from red to brown, indicating it is cooked through. Set this mixture aside once done.
- Prepare Buns: Slice the sweet bread rolls horizontally, keeping the buns intact. Arrange the bottom halves on a baking sheet to prepare for layering.
- Assemble Sliders: Evenly spread the cooked steak and vegetable mixture over the bottom halves of the buns. Lay the provolone cheese slices over the steak mixture, then top with the upper halves of the buns.
- Butter Glaze: Combine melted butter, dried thyme, and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl. Brush this flavorful mixture generously over the tops of the assembled buns to add moisture and flavor during baking.
- Bake: Place the sliders in the preheated oven and bake for 17 to 20 minutes or until the buns are golden brown and the cheese has melted beautifully.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve the sliders warm to enjoy the melty cheese and savory steak filling at their best.
Notes
- For an extra kick, add sliced jalapeños or hot sauce to the steak mixture.
- You can substitute provolone cheese with mozzarella or Swiss cheese if preferred.
- Prepare all ingredients ahead of time to assemble the sliders quickly before baking.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated in the oven for best texture.
