  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • ½ cup caramel sauce (cooled)

Garnish:

  • ½ cup whole toasted pecans
  • extra caramel drizzle

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare pans: Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour three 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. Prepare the cake: Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla. Alternate adding flour mixture and milk, then fold in pecans.
  3. Bake the cake: Divide batter among pans and bake for 25-30 minutes. Cool in pans, then transfer to wire racks.
  4. Make the caramel sauce: Heat sugar in a saucepan until amber. Add butter, cream, and salt. Cool.
  5. Prepare the frosting: Beat butter, add powdered sugar, cream, vanilla, salt, and caramel sauce until fluffy.
