Description

This Peach Sorbet is a refreshing and fruity dessert perfect for hot summer days. Made from fresh or frozen peaches, it combines natural sweetness with a hint of lemon juice for brightness. This dairy-free and gluten-free treat is easy to prepare, requiring just a few simple ingredients, cooking on the stovetop briefly, then freezing until smooth and scoopable.

Ingredients

Scale

Peach Sorbet Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh or frozen peaches (peeled and sliced)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup water (plus more as needed)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the peaches: If using fresh peaches, peel and slice them. If using frozen peaches, let them thaw slightly to make blending easier and more uniform.
  2. Cook the peach mixture: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the peaches, granulated sugar, lemon juice, water, and a pinch of salt. Stir occasionally while cooking for 5–7 minutes until the peaches soften and the sugar fully dissolves, creating a luscious peach syrup base.
  3. Blend until smooth: Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then transfer it to a blender or food processor. Blend thoroughly until the mixture is completely smooth. If the sorbet base is too thick, add one or two tablespoons of water to achieve a consistency suitable for freezing and scooping.
  4. Freeze the sorbet: Pour the blended mixture into a shallow container. Freeze it for 4–6 hours. During freezing, stir the mixture once or twice to break up ice crystals and maintain a smooth texture throughout.
  5. Serve: Before serving, let the sorbet rest at room temperature for about 5–10 minutes to soften slightly, making it easier to scoop. Enjoy this light and refreshing fruity dessert!

Notes

  • For an extra burst of flavor, add a few fresh mint leaves or a splash of peach schnapps before blending.
  • This recipe also works wonderfully with nectarines or mango as an alternative fruit option.
