Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Sauce and Noodles
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz egg noodles
- 3 tbsp butter
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Garnish
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Cook Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides. Place the chicken in the skillet and cook for 5-6 minutes per side until golden brown and fully cooked through. Once done, remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- Prepare the Sauce and Noodles: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned. Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring to combine. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Cook the Noodles: Add the egg noodles to the simmering liquid, then cover the skillet with a lid. Allow the noodles to cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are tender and have absorbed much of the liquid.
- Finish the Sauce and Combine: Stir in the butter and grated Parmesan cheese until melted and the sauce is creamy and well combined. Return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet, placing them on top of the noodles, and let them heat through for a couple of minutes.
- Serve: Optionally sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color and freshness. Serve the chicken breasts with a generous portion of the creamy buttered noodles on the side, ensuring some sauce is spooned over the top for maximum flavor.
Notes
- You can substitute heavy cream with half-and-half for a lighter sauce, but it will be less rich and creamy.
- To speed up cooking, use pre-cooked or rotisserie chicken, adding it in the final step just to heat through.
- Fresh parsley adds a refreshing contrast, but you can omit it if unavailable.
- Ensure the skillet you use has a lid to properly cook the noodles in the liquid.
- For extra flavor, season the sauce with a pinch of nutmeg or crushed red pepper flakes.
