  • 12 oz lo mein noodles or spaghetti

For the Beef:

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (slurry)
  • 4 green onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the Noodles: Cook noodles according to package directions, drain, and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Beef: In a skillet, cook ground beef until browned. Add garlic and ginger, then stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, and optional oyster sauce and red pepper flakes. Simmer and thicken with cornstarch slurry.
  3. Combine and Serve: Toss cooked noodles and green onions with the beef mixture. Drizzle with sesame oil, garnish with sesame seeds, and serve hot.
