Description

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping (Concha-style):

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • â…“ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring or cocoa powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Main Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Stir in warm milk, eggs, butter, and vanilla until well mixed. Gradually add remaining flour until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth. Let rise for 1½ hours.
  2. Topping: Mix powdered sugar, flour, butter, and vanilla until a thick paste forms. Divide and tint with coloring if desired.
  3. Shape dough into balls, top with paste, score patterns, and let rise. Bake at 350°F for 18–20 minutes.
