Ingredients
Scale
Brownies:
- 1 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Frosting:
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Brownies: Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter and cocoa powder until smooth. Stir in the sugar, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla. Add flour and salt, mixing just until combined—do not overmix. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Frosting: While the brownies bake, prepare the frosting. In a medium bowl, combine softened butter, milk, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Beat until smooth and creamy. As soon as the brownies come out of the oven, spread the frosting evenly over the hot brownies. Let cool completely before slicing.
Notes
- For extra fudgy brownies, slightly underbake and let them cool fully before cutting.
