Description

Enjoy the flavors of Greece with these delicious Lamb Gyros served in warm pita bread and topped with refreshing ingredients. Perfect for a quick and satisfying meal!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Lamb:

  • 1 pound ground lamb
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For Serving:

  • 4 warm pita breads
  • 1/2 cup tzatziki sauce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup diced cucumber
  • 1/4 cup sliced red onion
  • 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • Fresh chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Lamb: In a mixing bowl, combine ground lamb with garlic, oregano, cumin, paprika, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the lamb mixture and cook for 8–10 minutes, breaking it up as it browns, until fully cooked and slightly crispy.
  2. Warm the Pita: Warm the pita breads in a skillet, microwave, or oven until soft and pliable.
  3. Assemble the Gyros: Spread tzatziki sauce on each pita, top with cooked lamb, tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, and feta. Garnish with parsley if desired.
  4. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground beef or a lamb-beef mix if preferred.
  • Serve with extra tzatziki on the side and a squeeze of lemon juice for extra brightness.
