Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 medium head cauliflower, cut into florets
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Optional Garnish
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook cauliflower: Steam or boil the cauliflower florets for 5 to 7 minutes until they are fork-tender. Drain the cauliflower thoroughly and set it aside to remove any excess moisture.
- Make cheese sauce: Heat a large skillet over medium heat and melt the butter. Add the garlic powder and sauté for about 30 seconds to release its aroma, being careful not to burn it.
- Add cream & cheese: Stir in the heavy cream, shredded cheddar cheese, and grated Parmesan cheese into the skillet. Continue stirring until the cheese melts completely and forms a smooth, creamy sauce.
- Combine: Add the cooked cauliflower to the skillet. Gently mash and stir the cauliflower to coat all the florets evenly with the cheesy sauce.
- Season & serve: Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired. Serve the dish hot for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Ensure the cauliflower is well-drained to avoid a watery cheese sauce.
- You can steam the cauliflower using a steamer basket or boil it in salted water.
- For extra creaminess, add a little more heavy cream or a splash of cream cheese.
- To make this dish vegetarian, ensure the cheese is free from animal rennet.
- This dish can be reheated gently on the stovetop or microwave; add a splash of cream if it thickens too much when cooled.
