Ingredients
Scale
Sliders
- 12 slider buns (preferably soft, like Hawaiian rolls)
- 1 lb sliced turkey breast (deli-style)
- 12 slices cooked bacon, halved
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Sauce
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups milk (whole or 2%)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (1/4 cup for sauce + 1/2 cup for sauce finishing)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Prepare the Sliders: Slice the entire pack of slider buns in half horizontally, keeping all pieces intact. Place the bottom halves evenly in the prepared baking dish to form a base for the sliders.
- Assemble the Sliders: Layer the sliced turkey breast over the bottom buns evenly. Arrange the halved cooked bacon slices on top of the turkey. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses evenly over the bacon. Finish by placing the top halves of the slider buns over the cheese.
- Make the Sauce: In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour to form a roux, cooking for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden. Slowly whisk in the milk and heavy cream, continuing to cook while stirring constantly until the sauce thickens, approximately 3-5 minutes. Add the Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until fully incorporated.
- Pour the Sauce Over the Sliders: Pour the creamy Parmesan sauce evenly over the assembled sliders in the baking dish, ensuring all sliders are generously covered.
- Bake the Sliders: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 5-10 minutes until the top turns golden brown and the cheese sauce is bubbling.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and let the sliders cool for a few minutes before slicing. Optionally, garnish with extra grated Parmesan cheese or fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- Use soft slider buns like Hawaiian rolls for the best texture.
- Leftover sliders can be refrigerated and reheated gently in the oven.
- For a spicier twist, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the sauce.
- Turkey breast can be substituted with chicken if desired.
- The sauce can be made ahead and reheated before pouring.
