Description

These Irresistible Peanut Butter Balls are a delightful no-bake treat featuring a creamy peanut butter and powdered sugar filling coated in smooth melted chocolate. Perfect for parties or as a sweet snack, these bite-sized balls combine rich peanut butter flavor with a crisp chocolate shell for a satisfying dessert that comes together quickly and easily.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup (283g) creamy peanut butter
  • 6 tablespoons (84g) salted butter (or unsalted butter + 1/4 teaspoon salt)
  • 2 3/4 cups (311g) powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Coating

  • 1 package (10 ounces) chocolate melting chocolate (such as Ghirardelli or Candiquik)

Instructions

  1. Cream the base ingredients: In a mixing bowl, use a hand mixer to cream together the peanut butter and butter until the mixture is smooth and well blended, forming a creamy base for your peanut butter balls.
  2. Add sugar and vanilla: Gradually add the powdered sugar to the creamed mixture, mixing continuously until fully incorporated and smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract to flavor and bind the mixture together.
  3. Prepare the cookie sheet: Line a large cookie sheet with wax paper or parchment paper to ensure the peanut butter balls don’t stick during the setting process.
  4. Shape the peanut butter balls: Scoop out 1-inch portions of the peanut butter mixture and roll each portion between your hands to form a round ball. Place the balls on the prepared cookie sheet, repeating until all mixture is used.
  5. Chill the balls: Refrigerate the shaped peanut butter balls for about 20 minutes or until they are firm and easier to dip in chocolate.
  6. Melt the chocolate: Place the chocolate melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 30 seconds. Stir thoroughly, then continue microwaving in 10-second intervals, stirring between each until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth. You may also follow the package instructions for melting.
  7. Dip the balls in chocolate: Remove peanut butter balls from the fridge. Using a toothpick, dip each ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is completely coated. Place the coated balls back onto the lined cookie sheet to set.
  8. Let chocolate harden: Allow the chocolate-coated peanut butter balls to harden completely either at room temperature or by refrigerating. Serve once the chocolate shell has set, or store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • You can substitute salted butter with unsalted butter plus 1/4 teaspoon salt if preferred.
  • Ensure the peanut butter mixture is well chilled before dipping to help the chocolate coat smoothly and set properly.
  • Use high-quality chocolate melting wafers or chocolate bars for best taste and texture.
  • If desired, decorate the balls after dipping with sprinkles or crushed nuts before the chocolate hardens.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator to maintain freshness and prevent melting.
