Description

Delightfully flaky and golden, these Cranberry Goat Cheese Puff Pastry Swirls combine the tangy creaminess of goat cheese with the sweet burst of dried cranberries, all wrapped in buttery puff pastry and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar for a perfect sweet-savory snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

Puff Pastry Layer

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 tablespoon salted butter, melted (plus additional for brushing)

Filling

  • 4 ounces goat cheese, crumbled
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • 1-2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare the Pastry: Unroll the thawed puff pastry sheet carefully on a clean, flat surface. Using a pastry brush, evenly brush the surface with melted butter to add richness and help the cinnamon sugar stick.
  3. Add Filling: Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar evenly over the buttered pastry. Then, crumble the goat cheese evenly over the surface followed by scattering the dried cranberries to distribute the sweet and tangy flavors throughout the swirl.
  4. Shape the Swirls: Starting from the long side, tightly roll the puff pastry into a log. Brush the outside of the roll with more melted butter, then sprinkle additional cinnamon sugar on top. Using a sharp knife, cut the roll into 16 equal swirls.
  5. Arrange and Bake: Place the swirls on the prepared baking sheet spaced evenly apart to allow for expansion. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffed. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the puff pastry is fully thawed for easier handling and better puff.
  • Use salted butter to enhance flavor; adjust the amount of cinnamon sugar for desired sweetness.
  • These swirls are best enjoyed warm but can be served at room temperature.
  • For a nutty twist, sprinkle chopped toasted pecans or walnuts inside before rolling.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container and reheat gently to maintain flakiness.
