Description

These irresistible chocolate cake donuts are soft, moist, and packed with rich cocoa flavor. Perfectly baked in a donut pan and topped with a luscious chocolate glaze, they make a delightful treat for breakfast, dessert, or any time you crave a chocolatey indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs

Glaze

  • Powdered sugar (quantity to taste, approx. 1/2 cup)
  • Cocoa powder (approx. 2 tbsp)
  • Milk (to achieve desired glaze consistency, approx. 2-3 tbsp)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan thoroughly to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, and granulated sugar until well combined.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, beat together the milk, vegetable oil, and eggs until the mixture is smooth and homogenous.
  4. Mix Batter: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently mix until just combined. Do not overmix to keep the donuts tender.
  5. Fill Donut Pan: Spoon or pipe the batter into the donut pan cavities, filling each about two-thirds full to allow room for rising.
  6. Bake: Place the pan in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the donuts comes out clean.
  7. Cool Donuts: Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Prepare Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and cocoa powder, then slowly add milk until the glaze reaches your desired consistency.
  9. Glaze Donuts: Drizzle or dip the cooled donuts into the chocolate glaze and set aside to let the glaze set before serving.

Notes

  • Make sure not to overmix the batter to keep the donuts light and fluffy.
  • If you don’t have a donut pan, you can use a muffin tin and adjust baking time slightly.
  • For a richer glaze, add a teaspoon of melted butter to the glaze mixture.
  • Store donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
