Description

Dough:

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water (about 110°F)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 to 2 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the yeast: In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit until foamy.
  2. Mix ingredients: Stir in honey, oil, salt, and whole wheat flour. Gradually add all-purpose flour.
  3. Knead the dough: Turn out onto a floured surface, knead for 8–10 minutes.
  4. First rise: Place in greased bowl, let rise until doubled.
  5. Shape and second rise: Shape into a loaf, place in pan, let rise again.
  6. Bake: Preheat oven, bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Cool and enjoy: Remove from pan, cool on wire rack.
