Description

This Honey Garlic Butter Steak and Rice Skillet is a delicious one-pan meal featuring tender bite-sized steak pieces cooked to perfection and simmered with fragrant garlic, honey, and butter sauce. Combined with fluffy white rice, this savory-sweet dish is quick to prepare, making it perfect for a satisfying weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak and Rice

  • 1 lb steak (ribeye, sirloin, or your choice), cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Honey Garlic Butter Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger

Garnish

  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions

Instructions

  1. Cook the steak: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak pieces and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 3-4 minutes, until browned on all sides, then remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Cook the rice: In the same skillet, add the rice and beef broth. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let the rice cook for 15-18 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed.
  3. Prepare the sauce: While the rice cooks, melt butter in a separate small saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
  4. Make the honey garlic sauce: Add honey, soy sauce, and ground ginger to the butter and garlic. Stir to combine and let simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  5. Combine steak and rice with sauce: Once the rice is done, add the cooked steak back into the skillet. Pour the honey garlic butter sauce over the steak and rice mixture. Stir to combine, making sure the steak and rice are evenly coated with the sauce.
  6. Garnish and serve: Garnish with chopped green onions and serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can substitute beef broth with chicken or vegetable broth if desired.
  • Ribeye or sirloin are preferred for tender cuts of steak, but any steak suitable for quick cooking works well.
  • For a spicier kick, add some crushed red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • Ensure the rice is covered while simmering to cook evenly and absorb all the liquid.
  • Use fresh garlic for the best flavor in the sauce.
