Scale
Buffalo Wing Sauce Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup hot sauce (Frank’s RedHot recommended)
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
- Melt the Butter: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter until fully liquid but not browned.
- Add Remaining Ingredients: To the melted butter, add the hot sauce, white vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika (if using), salt, and ground black pepper. Stir well to combine all the flavors into a smooth sauce.
- Simmer the Sauce: Bring the mixture up to a gentle simmer and cook it for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally to allow the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Cool and Use: Remove the saucepan from heat and let the sauce cool slightly. Once cooled, toss with freshly cooked chicken wings or transfer to an airtight container for storage and later use.
Notes
- Using unsalted butter lets you control the salt level in the sauce.
- Frank’s RedHot sauce is the traditional choice for authentic Buffalo flavor.
- Smoked paprika is optional but adds a nice smoky depth to the sauce.
- This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Reheat gently before using to maintain the sauce’s texture and flavor.
