Filling:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Cream Cheese Icing:

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1–2 tablespoons milk (as needed for consistency)

Instructions

  1. Dough: In a large bowl or stand mixer, dissolve the yeast in warm milk. Add sugar, melted butter, salt, eggs, and flour. Knead until smooth. Let rise for 1 hour.
  2. Rolling: Roll out dough into a rectangle. Spread softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Roll tightly, cut into slices, shape into hearts.
  3. Rising and Baking: Let the rolls rise for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20–25 minutes.
  4. Icing: Beat together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Frost warm rolls.

Notes

  • To make ahead, shape the rolls and refrigerate overnight. Bring to room temperature and allow to rise before baking.
  • For a festive touch, sprinkle with red or pink sanding sugar.
