Description

Delight in these delicate handmade chocolate-filled rolled crêpes, perfect for a quick and delicious breakfast or dessert. Thin, tender crêpes are cooked to golden perfection and filled with a rich chocolate hazelnut spread, then rolled and optionally dusted with powdered sugar for an elegant touch.

Ingredients

Scale

Batter

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Filling and Topping

  • 1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread or melted chocolate
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the batter: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, eggs, milk, water, melted butter, sugar, and salt until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
  2. Heat the pan: Warm a lightly oiled non-stick skillet over medium heat to ensure the crêpes cook evenly and do not stick.
  3. Cook the crêpes: Pour about 1/4 cup of batter into the skillet, tilting and swirling the pan to coat the bottom evenly with a thin layer of batter.
  4. Flip the crêpe: Cook for 1-2 minutes until the edges begin to lift and the bottom is lightly golden, then flip and cook the second side for 30 seconds.
  5. Add chocolate filling: Remove the crêpe from the pan and spread a thin, even layer of chocolate hazelnut spread or melted chocolate over its surface.
  6. Roll the crêpe: Roll the filled crêpe tightly and place it on a serving plate.
  7. Repeat cooking process: Continue cooking and filling with the remaining batter and chocolate spread until all crêpes are prepared.
  8. Serve: Optionally dust the rolled crêpes with powdered sugar for a finishing touch and serve warm to enjoy the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free version, substitute milk with almond or oat milk and use dairy-free chocolate spread.
  • If you prefer thinner or thicker crêpes, adjust the amount of batter poured into the skillet accordingly.
  • Crêpes can be made ahead, stored in the refrigerator, and gently reheated before serving.
  • Try adding fresh fruits or nuts inside the crêpes for added texture and flavor.
  • Use a non-stick skillet to prevent sticking and to ensure easy flipping.
