Ingredients
Scale
Lobster Tails
- 4 lobster tails (about 4-6 oz each)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Lemon wedges, for serving (optional)
Garlic Lemon Butter Sauce
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Lobster Tails: Using kitchen shears, cut down the center of the lobster tail shell lengthwise without removing the meat. This helps the lobster cook evenly and allows the flavors to penetrate.
- Season the Lobster: Drizzle the lobster tails with olive oil and generously season with salt and pepper to enhance their natural flavor.
- Preheat the Grill: Set your grill to medium-high heat, approximately 400°F (200°C). Make sure the grill grates are cleaned and lightly oiled to prevent sticking during cooking.
- Grill the Lobster: Place the lobster tails shell-side down on the grill. Cook for 5-6 minutes, then flip them over to cook the meat side for another 3-4 minutes until the lobster meat turns opaque and reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C).
- Make the Garlic Lemon Butter Sauce: While the lobster is grilling, melt unsalted butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, then stir in lemon juice, lemon zest, and crushed red pepper flakes if using. Remove from the heat and mix in chopped fresh parsley.
- Serve: Once cooked, drizzle the lobster tails generously with the garlic lemon butter sauce. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side for an extra citrusy kick.
Notes
- Do not overcook lobster as it can become tough; use a meat thermometer for accuracy.
- If you don’t have a grill, you can broil the lobster tails in the oven for similar results.
- Crushed red pepper flakes are optional for added heat; omit if preferred mild flavors.
- Fresh parsley adds a nice fresh herbal note but can be omitted or substituted with chives or basil.
- Lemon wedges are optional but recommended for added brightness when serving.
