Description

Savor the classic comfort of Garlic Butter Steak Bites paired with creamy mashed potatoes in this delicious and hearty American main course. Tender sirloin cubes are seared to perfection in garlic-infused butter and finished with Worcestershire sauce and fresh parsley. Served over smooth mashed russet potatoes enriched with butter, sour cream, and warm milk, this dish makes for a satisfying meal any night of the week.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak Bites

  • 1 1/2 pounds sirloin steak, cut into bite-size cubes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Mashed Potatoes

  • 2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Season the Steak: Place the cubed sirloin steak in a bowl. Add salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Toss thoroughly to ensure all steak pieces are evenly coated with the seasoning.
  2. Sear the Steak Bites: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add half of the seasoned steak pieces in a single layer. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until browned. Remove the cooked steak bites to a plate and repeat with the remaining steak cubes.
  3. Prepare Garlic Butter Sauce: Reduce the skillet heat to medium. Add 3 tablespoons of butter and allow it to melt. Stir in the minced garlic and cook until it becomes fragrant, about 1 minute, being careful not to burn it.
  4. Combine Steak with Sauce: Return all the seared steak bites to the skillet. Toss them with the garlic butter and Worcestershire sauce. Cook together for an additional minute to fully coat the steak bites in the sauce. Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley before removing from heat.
  5. Make the Mashed Potatoes: While cooking the steak, place peeled and cubed potatoes in a pot of salted boiling water. Boil for 12 to 15 minutes until the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork. Drain thoroughly and return the potatoes to the pot.
  6. Mash the Potatoes: Add butter, warm milk, sour cream, salt, and black pepper to the drained potatoes. Mash everything together until the potatoes are smooth and creamy.
  7. Serve: Plate a generous scoop of creamy mashed potatoes and top with the garlicky butter steak bites. Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For extra richness, add a splash of heavy cream to the mashed potatoes during mashing.
  • You can substitute ribeye or New York strip steak for a more tender steak bite experience.
  • Add red pepper flakes to the garlic butter for a spicy kick if desired.
