Cookie Layer:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Brownie Layer: Whisk together melted butter and granulated sugar, then add eggs and vanilla. Stir in cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt. Spread batter in pan.
  3. Cookie Layer: Beat softened butter with sugars until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Mix dry ingredients into wet, then fold in chocolate chips. Drop spoonfuls over brownie batter and spread.
  4. Bake: for 28-32 minutes until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs. Cool before slicing.
