Custard:
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 5 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Additional:
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat to 375°F (190°C). Roll out pie crust and blind bake for 10 minutes.
- Sauté apples: Sauté apple slices with butter and cinnamon until softened.
- Prepare custard: Heat milk and cream, then mix with egg, sugar, cornstarch, flour, salt, and vanilla. Cook until thickened.
- Assemble and bake: Spread apples on crust, pour custard over apples, and bake for 35–40 minutes.
- Chill and serve: Cool, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

- For a deeper flavor, mix tart and sweet apples.
