For the Meat Sauce:
- 1 pound ground beef (or Italian sausage)
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (24-ounce) jar marinara or pasta sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
For the Cheese Filling:
- 1 (15-ounce) container ricotta cheese
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
Additional Ingredients:
- 9–12 uncooked lasagna noodles (regular, not oven-ready)
- Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the Meat Sauce: In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until browned. Add garlic, marinara sauce, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook for a few more minutes.
- Prepare the Cheese Filling: In a bowl, mix ricotta, 1 cup mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, salt, and pepper.
- Assemble the Lasagna: Grease the slow cooker. Layer meat sauce, noodles, cheese mixture, and repeat. Top with remaining mozzarella. Cook on LOW for 4-5 hours.
- Rest and Serve: Let the lasagna sit for 15 minutes before cutting. Garnish with parsley if desired.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, replace beef with sautéed vegetables.
- You can make the meat sauce in advance for quicker assembly.
