Ingredients
Scale
Taco Shells
- 24 wonton wrappers
- Vegetable oil spray for baking
Chicken Filling
- 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts, finely diced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Toppings and Sauce
- 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack or Mexican blend cheese
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup sliced green onions
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
Instructions
- Prepare taco shells: Preheat the oven to 375°F. Lightly coat the underside of an inverted muffin tin with vegetable oil spray. Press one wonton wrapper between each muffin cup to form taco shells. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until golden and crisp. Remove and let cool completely to ensure they hold their shape.
- Cook the chicken: While the shells bake, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the finely diced chicken and cook for 5 to 6 minutes until fully cooked and no longer pink.
- Season the chicken: Stir in minced garlic, chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 1 minute until the spices are fragrant and well incorporated.
- Make the sauce: In a small bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, and lime juice. Mix well to create a tangy, creamy sauce.
- Assemble the tacos: Fill each crispy wonton shell with the seasoned chicken. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the chicken, then top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and sliced green onions.
- Add the finishing touch: Drizzle the prepared sour cream sauce over the toppings. Serve the tacos immediately to enjoy the crisp texture and flavorful filling.
Notes
- For extra crunch, lightly spray the wonton wrappers with oil before baking.
- You can substitute diced chicken with ground chicken or rotisserie chicken for convenience.
- Add sliced jalapeños or a drizzle of hot sauce if you want to increase the heat level.
