Description

Indulge in the ultimate comfort food with this Crispy Cheesy Creamy Tuna Melt recipe. A delicious blend of creamy tuna salad and gooey melted cheese, sandwiched between crispy, buttery bread slices.

Ingredients

Scale

Tuna Salad:

  • 2 cans (5 ounces each) tuna, drained
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup finely diced celery
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped red onion
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Assembly:

  • 4 slices sourdough or hearty sandwich bread
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices mozzarella or Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Tuna Salad: In a medium bowl, combine tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, garlic powder, pepper, celery, onion, and parsley. Mix until well blended and creamy.
  2. Assembly: Lay out the bread slices. Spread butter on one side of each slice. Place one slice of cheddar cheese on the unbuttered side of two slices of bread. Divide tuna mixture evenly over the cheese. Top with mozzarella slices, then cover with the remaining bread slices, buttered side facing out.
  3. Cooking: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-low heat. Cook sandwiches for 3–4 minutes per side until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese is melted. Slice in half and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, add a slice of tomato or pickles inside the melt before grilling.
  • You can also toast the sandwiches in a panini press.
  • Whole wheat or rye bread works well as a substitute for sourdough.
