Description

These crispy Chicken Bites are a delicious and easy-to-make snack or meal option. Tender pieces of chicken are coated in a flavorful seasoned flour mixture, dipped in egg, and then covered with crunchy breadcrumbs before being baked or fried to golden perfection. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce for a perfect appetizer or family-friendly dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken Bites:

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil (for frying or drizzling when baking)

For Dipping Sauce (optional):

  • ½ cup ranch dressing or your favorite dipping sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat or heat oil. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) if baking, or heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat if frying.
  2. Prepare flour mixture. In a shallow bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Beat eggs. In another shallow bowl, beat the two large eggs until well combined.
  4. Prepare breadcrumbs. Place the breadcrumbs in a third shallow bowl for coating.
  5. Coat chicken pieces. Dip each piece of chicken first into the flour mixture, ensuring full coverage, then into the beaten eggs, and finally into the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to coat completely.
  6. Cook chicken bites. If baking, arrange the coated chicken bites on a greased baking sheet in a single layer. Lightly drizzle with olive oil and bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. If frying, heat oil in a skillet and fry the chicken bites in batches for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and fully cooked. Drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve. Serve the chicken bites hot with your favorite dipping sauce such as ranch dressing, honey mustard, or barbecue sauce.

Notes

  • For extra crispy bites, use panko breadcrumbs instead of regular breadcrumbs.
  • Chicken breasts will cook faster and be leaner, while thighs offer juicier bites.
  • If baking, flipping halfway ensures even crispiness on both sides.
  • Drain fried bites on paper towels to remove excess oil and maintain crispiness.
  • You can customize the seasoning to your taste by adding cayenne for heat or Italian herbs for extra flavor.
  • Serve immediately for best texture, as the coating can soften if left to sit.
