Ingredients
Scale
Filling
- 6 ounces lump crab meat (drained and picked over)
- 4 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1 green onion (finely chopped)
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Sandwich
- 4 slices sourdough or white sandwich bread
- 4 slices provolone or mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter (softened)
Instructions
- Prepare the filling: In a medium bowl, combine the lump crab meat, softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, finely chopped green onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is creamy and evenly blended.
- Assemble the sandwiches: Evenly spread the crab mixture over two slices of bread. Layer each with two slices of cheese, then cover with the remaining bread slices to form two sandwiches.
- Butter the bread and cook: Spread the outside of each sandwich with softened butter. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes on each side, pressing gently with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has fully melted.
- Serve: Remove the sandwiches from the skillet, slice them as desired, and serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Add a few dashes of hot sauce or a squeeze of lemon juice to the crab filling for extra flavor.
- Serve with sweet chili sauce or soy dipping sauce on the side to complement the sandwich.
- Use sourdough bread for a tangier taste or white sandwich bread for a classic option.
- Ensure the crab meat is well drained and picked over to remove any shell fragments.
