Description
A classic cowboy beans recipe that combines ground beef, bacon, and three types of beans in a flavorful sauce, perfect as a side dish or main course.

For the Cowboy Beans:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 oz) pork and beans, undrained
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook Bacon: In a large skillet, cook chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside, leaving 1 tablespoon of bacon grease in the pan.
- Brown Beef: Cook ground beef in the same pan until browned. Drain excess grease if needed.
- Saute Onions: Add diced onion to the pan and cook until softened.
- Add Ingredients: Stir in garlic, then add all beans, barbecue sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, chili powder, and cooked bacon.
- Simmer: Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook uncovered for 20–25 minutes.
- Season and Serve: Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Serve warm.

- For a spicier version, add chopped jalapeños or hot sauce.
