- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 cups chicken stock
- 2 tablespoons dried sage

Instructions
- Prepare Cornbread: Prepare the dry cornbread mix according to the package directions. Once cooked, allow it to cool completely, then crumble it into small pieces suitable for mixing into the dressing.
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish thoroughly to prevent sticking.
- Sauté Vegetables: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the chopped celery and onions, sautéing until they become soft and translucent, about 5 to 7 minutes.
- Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the sautéed celery and onions with 3 cups of the crumbled cornbread, beaten eggs, chicken stock, dried sage, and salt and pepper to taste. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Transfer and Bake: Pour the combined mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until the top turns a beautiful golden brown.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and let the dressing cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your delicious corn bread dressing as a perfect side dish to your meal.
Notes
- For a moister dressing, you can add a little more chicken stock as needed before baking.
- Feel free to add cooked sausage or chopped nuts for additional texture and flavor.
- Make sure the cornbread is fully cooled before crumbling to prevent a soggy texture.
- Use low-sodium chicken stock if you want to control the salt content.
- This dressing can be prepared a day ahead and baked just before serving for convenience.
