Description

Cinnamon Roll Casserole is a luscious, sweet breakfast dish that combines the nostalgic flavors of cinnamon rolls with a creamy, custard-soaked bake. Perfect for brunch or special mornings, this casserole delivers tender cinnamon roll bites enveloped in a rich mixture of eggs, cream, and maple syrup, baked until golden and finished with a sweet icing drizzle.

Ingredients

Scale

Cinnamon Roll Base

  • Two 12.4 ounce cans refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing

Custard Mixture

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Cinnamon Rolls: Cut each refrigerated cinnamon roll into quarters, then evenly spread the pieces across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  3. Mix Custard: In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, maple syrup, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  4. Combine and Soak: Pour the custard mixture evenly over the cinnamon roll pieces, gently pressing the pieces down so they absorb the custard thoroughly.
  5. Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the casserole is fully set and the top is golden brown.
  6. Prepare Icing: While baking, warm the icing packets by holding them in your hands or placing them in a bowl of warm water to make them easier to drizzle.
  7. Serve: Once baked, remove the casserole from the oven and drizzle the warmed icing over the top before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute the maple syrup with brown sugar.
  • Add chopped pecans on top before baking for a delightful crunch.
  • Serve with fresh fruit or a light dusting of powdered sugar for extra sweetness and presentation.
