Description

These Cinnamon Churro Cheesecake Bars combine the flaky texture of crescent roll dough with a creamy, sweetened cream cheese filling, topped with a buttery cinnamon-sugar blend that creates the perfect churro-inspired dessert. Easy to prepare and bake, these bars offer a delicious Mexican-American twist on classic cheesecake bars, ideal for any dessert spread or sweet craving.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough

Filling

  • 2 packages (8 oz each) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare cinnamon sugar: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup of granulated sugar with 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon and set this mixture aside for topping the bars later.
  2. Make the cream cheese filling: In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the remaining 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy, ensuring no lumps.
  3. Prepare the bottom dough layer: Unroll one can of crescent roll dough and press it evenly into the bottom of a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Seal any seams between dough pieces to create a solid base layer.
  4. Spread the filling: Evenly spread the prepared cream cheese mixture over the pressed dough layer, covering the entire surface for a uniform creamy layer.
  5. Add the top dough layer: Unroll the second can of crescent roll dough carefully, and lay it over the cream cheese filling to cover it completely. Seal any seams to keep the layers together during baking.
  6. Top with butter and cinnamon sugar: Pour the melted butter evenly over the top dough layer. Immediately sprinkle the prepared cinnamon sugar mixture over the buttered surface to coat thoroughly.
  7. Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and slightly crisp, indicating that the bars are cooked through.
  8. Cool and chill: After baking, let the bars cool at room temperature for 30 minutes to firm up slightly. Then refrigerate the bars for at least 2 hours to fully set before slicing into 12 bars.

Notes

  • For an extra indulgent twist, drizzle the bars with caramel sauce before serving.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days to maintain freshness.
