Ingredients

Scale

Dough:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • vegetable oil for frying

Coating:

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Optional Filling:

  • dulce de leche
  • chocolate ganache
  • pastry cream

Instructions

  1. Dough Preparation: In a saucepan, heat water, sugar, salt, and butter. Add flour, stir until dough forms. Let cool, then mix in eggs and vanilla.
  2. Frying: Heat oil, pipe dough into hot oil, fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Coating: Roll warm poppers in cinnamon sugar. Fill with optional fillings if desired.

Notes

  • Keep cooked poppers warm in the oven while frying in batches.
  • Best enjoyed fresh. Refrigerated biscuit dough can be used as a shortcut.
