Description

Deliciously soft and chewy Chocolate Chip Banana Cookies made with ripe bananas and semi-sweet chocolate chips. These cookies offer a wonderful blend of banana sweetness and rich chocolate flavor, perfect for a satisfying treat or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

Wet Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ripe banana, mashed

Add-ins

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prep: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and promote even baking.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. This ensures that the leavening agents and spices are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  3. Cream Butter & Sugar: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy, creating a good base for the cookies.
  4. Add Wet Ingredients: Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined. Then stir in the mashed banana until the entire mixture is smooth and evenly blended.
  5. Combine & Fold: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined to avoid overworking the dough. Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips to distribute them evenly.
  6. Scoop & Bake: Use a tablespoon to drop evenly sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart to allow room for spreading.
  7. Bake & Cool: Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, until the edges turn lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use ripe bananas for the best flavor and natural sweetness.
  • Do not overmix the dough once the dry ingredients are added to keep cookies tender.
  • Cookies may soften further as they cool, so avoid overbaking to keep them chewy.
  • You can substitute semi-sweet chocolate chips with dark or milk chocolate based on preference.
