For the Banana Bars:
- 2 ripe bananas (mashed)
- ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
- ¾ cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, combine mashed bananas, melted butter, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
- Prepare dry ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- Combine ingredients: Gradually add dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
- Bake: Spread the batter in the pan and bake for 25–30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool and serve: Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
Notes
- For a cakier texture, use 1 ¼ cups flour.
- You can add chopped walnuts or dark chocolate chips for variation.
